CONCACAF Champions League details announced

Chivas USA, D.C. United, Houston and New England will be the United States' representatives in the initial CONCACAF Champions League. The 24-team tournament, modeled after the highly successful European Champions League, replaces the CONCACAF Champions Cup as the club competition of soccer's North and Central American and Caribbean region.

While the UEFA Champions League final is still a week away, Major League Soccer fans can begin daydreaming about their own team's Champions League glory, as CONCACAF unveiled on Wednesday the qualification format for the inaugural 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League.

US women's soccer team to face Canada in Washington

The U.S. women's soccer team will face Canada on May 10 in Washington, D.C., as part of its preparations for the Beijing Olympics. The U.S. and Canada both will be at the Summer Games representing the CONCACAF region. The Americans also have pre-Olympic matches scheduled against Australia on April 27 in Cary, N.C., and on May 3 in Birmingham, Ala.

Schedule taking its toll for D.C.

Five games in just more than two weeks can be hard on any team, and results from such a demanding schedule showed for D.C. United on Saturday night. While most of the other teams in the league played their third match of the season this weekend, United added a home-and-home series with Mexican club Pachuca as part of the CONCACAF Champions' Cup.
