Manchester United reveal financial loss
Manchester United had a $113.4 million net loss in the fiscal year ending last June 30, despite winning the English Premier League title. Revenue rose 21 percent to $409 million but the team owes $1.5 billion to creditors, including $109 million in transfer fee installments on players signed by Alex Ferguson, according to accounts released this week by Red Football Joint Venture Ltd.

ISMM, FIFA's marketing partner for almost two decades, left an estimated debt of euro196 million US$300 million  when it collapsed in 2001. Six executives of FIFA's former marketing partner will go on trial in Zug, Switzerland,Tuesday,  charged with embezzlement, fraud, fraudulent bankruptcy, damaging creditors and falsification of documents.

FIFA's former marketing arm was accused Tuesday of funneling millions in bribes through a Liechtenstein foundation. Prosecutors opened their case by contending that six executives of ISL/ISMM paid about $18 million to people involved in negotiating rights deals for major sports events. It was the first time state prosecutors in Zug explicitly accused the company of bribery.
