The Danish football federation says a player with Danish top-division club Lyngby has been suspended for eight games after betting on his team to lose. Copenhagen winger Jesper Gronkjaer to retire

FC Copenhagen winger Jesper Gronkjaer says he will retire after the final game of the season on Sunday. The 33-year-old former Ajax and Chelsea player said Thursday he wanted to stop "at the peak of his football career." Copenhagen has already wrapped up the league title and hosts Aalborg -- where Gronkjaer started his career -- in its last game.

Denmark, Spain lead groups at Euro U21 finals

Host Denmark has been drawn to play Belarus, Iceland and Switzerland in the group stage of the European Under-21 Championship next year, which serves as a qualifier for the 2012 London Olympic football tournament. Spain leads the other group and will play the Czech Republic, England and Ukraine. The eight-team final tournament will be played June 11-25 in Aalborg, Aarhus, Herning and Viborg.

American forward Tracy out with knee injuries

The Danish club AaB Aalborg says American forward Marcus Tracy will miss the rest of the year because of injuries to both knees. Tracy has returned to the United States to undergo treatment for a condition called "jumper's knee," AaB sporting director Lynge Jakobsen said Tuesday. Jakobsen says he expects Tracy to be back training with the team again in January.

FC Copenhagen secures Danish title with 4-0 win

FC Copenhagen won the Danish league for the seventh time in 17 years, beating last-place HB Koge 4-0 Wednesday after two goals by Dame N'Doye and one from Zdenek Pospech and Hjalte Norregaard. Copenhagen leads the standings with 62 points, nine more than Odense with two rounds left to play. Aalborg is third in the 12-team league with 47 points.
