Mario Balotelli did all he could to get sent off in Man City's doomed visit to the Emirates on Sunday. In the 19th minute, he was lucky not to snap Alex Song's leg with a boot to the knee ( moving pictures here ) that went unpunished because the referee's view was obscured.
In the 32nd minute, Balotelli missed Bacary Sagna with another high challenge, but finally got his first yellow of the day five minutes later for catching Sagna on the ankle with the tamest of his high kicks. Even more of a shocker than Mikel Arteta's 87th minute goal to give Arsenal a 1-0 win was the fact that Mario made it all the way to the 90th minute before being booked a second time for a tackle from behind on Sagna that got him sent off. It'll be yet another suspension for Mario as City are now all but finished in the title race, sinking to eight points being Man United with six matches left to play.
The good news for City is that this match revealed a foolproof way they can win the title next season. If they can just convince Man United to sign Balotelli (and maybe take Carlos Tevez back, along with everyone not named Vincent Kompany), the title will be theirs. |

Arsenal have a reputation for their graceful and classy style of play and that apparently translates rather well to ballet. In an ad for French (and thus Arsene Wenger approved) car maker Citroen, Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song and Bacary Sagna were paired off with ballerinas from the English National Ballet and put through their paces.
Some highlights: Alex Song's "What the f*** am I doing right now?" look at 30 seconds in, Oxlade-Chamberlain taking a peek under a tutu at 41 seconds and Szczesny's jump at 1:10.
It would've been so much better if it involved Andrei Arshavin, though. |

Following the failed appointment of youth team coach Andrea Stramaccioni as Inter's caretaker manager, the club announced that Canadian meteorologist Ted Flangies has been hired on a five-year deal to take charge of the struggling squad. Flangies, hired solely for his striking resemblance to former Inter manager Jose Mourinho, claims he has never watched a football match in his life.
"Finding a manager that can live up to Mourinho has been difficult," said Inter owner Massimo Moratti. "We have tried men with great knowledge of the game, but they have all failed. So, we found a person who looks exactly like Mourinho. Seriously, it's scary how much he looks like Jose. Also, he has an innate distrust of UNICEF. He's perfect."
