The face of pure joy: Fernando Torres scores two goals in one match

Fernando Torres scored two goals and set up two others in Chelsea 5-2 FA Cup quarterfinal win over Leicester ( video here ), snapping his 26-match scoring drought consisting of more than 25 hours of play in total. I will repeat that: Fernando Torres scored two goals in one match that I'm pretty sure wasn't just arranged as an elaborate ruse to boost his confidence. They were actually Torres' first goals since the last time he scored twice in a match against Genk in the Champions League group stage back in October, but this was easily one of Torres' best performances (if not the best, full stop) in a Chelsea shirt. Could this be the spark he's needed to finally regain his form? The fact that this coincides with Chelsea's four straight wins under caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo and their tremendous comeback against Napoli to stay alive in the Champions League might not be mere coincidence. Though, it probably is enough to make Andre Villas-Boas burn a pile of Roman Abramovich's money out of rage and the inability to find a place to store it all. Of course, Torres did do this against a mid-table Championship side and it was just one match that could very well be the start of another 20-match scoreless run, but none of that matters right now. After so much time looking glum on the bench and being laughed at by all of Old Trafford in his moment of despair, let the man have his moment of joy. Torres ends career-worst drought

Fernando Torres ended a career-worst scoreless streak at 26 games, getting two goals for Chelsea in a 5-2 victory over Leicester on Sunday that advanced the Blues to the FA Cup semifinals. Torres scored off Raul Meireles' pass in the 67th minute for a 3-0 lead, his first goal in 25 hours, 41 minutes of action since scoring twice against Genk in the Champions League on Oct.

Racing Genk says forward Kevin De Bruyne will transfer to Chelsea on a 5 1/2 -year deal. Belgium's league champion said the deal was completed on Tuesday, on the last day of the winter transfer window. The 20-year-old De Bruyne is to finish his season in Belgium before going to the London club over the summer.

Racing Genk holds Bayer Leverkusen to 1-1 draw

Bayer Leverkusen was relegated to group runner-up for the knockout phase of the Champions League after being held to a 1-1 draw by already eliminated Racing Genk on Tuesday. Leverkusen was already through to the last 16 but will now face one of the competition's better teams in the next round after Chelsea took top spot in Group E with a 3-0 win over Valencia.
