South Korean Olympic team captain grilled by prosecutors

The captain of South Korea's Olympic soccer team Hong Jeong-ho has been quizzed by prosecutors probing a match-fixing scandal that has engulfed the country's professional league, local media reported on Tuesday.

Melbourne Victory revived their Asian Champions League campaign with a much-needed 2-1 victory over Tianjin Teda while Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors was virtually assured of making the knockout stage by beating Cerezo Osaka 1-0. Japanese champion Nagoya Grampus beat FC Seoul 2-0 to replaced the South Korean side atop Group F and bolster its chances of advancing to the Asian Champions League knockout stage on Tuesday. Mu Kanazaki pounced on a rebound off a shot by Yoshizumi Ogawa and broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. From there, the Korean champ intensified the pressure.

Shanghai Shenhua and Sydney FC scored within the first dozen minutes then couldn't score again in a 1-1 draw in the Asian Champions League on Wednesday. Shanghai's Colombian striker Duvier Riascos scored in the sixth minute and Nicky Carle equalized for the home side in the 12th to leave both teams without a win in the competition.

Japan international Takashi Inui scored in the 53rd minute Tuesday to give Cerezo Osaka a 1-0 win over Jeonbuk Motors, handing the South Korean side its first loss in Group G of the Asian Champions League. Jeju Utd wins 2-1 at Melbourne Victory
South Korea's Jeju United notched an important away win in the Asian Champions League, beating Australia's Melbourne Victory 2-1 on Tuesday. In a clash between two teams that lost their Group E openers, Melbourne went ahead through striker Danny Allsopp in the 37th minute but Jeju deservedly equalized just four minutes later through midfielder Park Hyun-Beom.
FIFA asked to probe Koo's move to Wolfsburg
FIFA is investigating Wolfsburg's signing of Asian Cup topscorer Koo Ja-cheol, after Swiss club Young Boys thought it had a deal for the South Korea midfielder. FIFA says the Switzerland Football Association is seeking clarification of Koo's international clearance to play in Germany. Young Boys believed it had agreement with Koo's Korean club Jeju United before the Asian Cup.
Wolfsburg signs Koo, Tuncay, Orozco

Wolfsburg has signed South Korea international Koo Ja-choel from Jeju United, Tuncay Sanli from Stoke and teenager Yohandry Orozco of Venezuelan club FC Zulia. Koo, 21, was top scorer at January's Asian Cup with five goals and has signed a 3 1/2 -year contract, as has Tuncay, 29. While the 19-year-old Orozco signed a 4 1/2 -year deal, the Bundesliga club said Monday.


Wolfsburg signs South Korean, Venezuelan players

Kicker magazine says Wolfsburg has signed South Korea international Koo Ja-choel from Jeju United and teenager Yohandry Orozco of Venezuelan club FC Zulia. Wolfsburg has not confirmed the transfers. Kicker says Wolfsburg is also seeking strikers Tuncay from Stoke, Patrick Helmes from Bundesliga rival Bayer Leverkusen and Jan Polak from Anderlecht before the transfer window expires.
