Manchester City striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero has been ruled out of Saturday's home match against Sunderland with a mystery injury that could keep him off the field for an indefinite amount of time. The only thing manager Roberto Mancini has revealed about the ailment is that it was 'stupid'. Take it away, Daily Mail :
'It is a stupid injury,' said Mancini. 'It was not his fault but he can't play with this injury; for one day, 10 days or two weeks. I don't know.'
Mancini has refused to say exactly what happened but repeatedly used the word 'stupid' when asked.
'I prefer not to say,' he said. 'But he couldn't play against Stoke and can't play tomorrow. I hope he can recover for Arsenal next weekend.'
It's unclear why Mancini is being so cagey about the situation, but 'stupid' injuries may occur in any of the following situations:
- Requesting your tremendous salary in cash and dropping it on your foot
- Marying Maradona's daughter, then angering Maradona
- One-on-one training drills with Nigel de Jong
- Letting Carlos Tevez off his leash when the mailman is at the door
- Meeting an Atletico Madrid fan in a dark alley
- Playing darts with Mario Balotelli
- Doing anything with Mario Balotelli
- Getting hit by a huge red truck while cycling to work
- Watching the TLC network for more than 20 minutes, increasing your stupidity to the point where you forget how your legs and arms work.
They're all possibilities, but the smart money is on Balotelli being somehow involved. |

Fernando Torres scored two goals and set up two others in Chelsea 5-2 FA Cup quarterfinal win over Leicester ( video here ), snapping his 26-match scoring drought consisting of more than 25 hours of play in total. I will repeat that: Fernando Torres scored two goals in one match that I'm pretty sure wasn't just arranged as an elaborate ruse to boost his confidence.
They were actually Torres' first goals since the last time he scored twice in a match against Genk in the Champions League group stage back in October, but this was easily one of Torres' best performances (if not the best, full stop) in a Chelsea shirt. Could this be the spark he's needed to finally regain his form? The fact that this coincides with Chelsea's four straight wins under caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo and their tremendous comeback against Napoli to stay alive in the Champions League might not be mere coincidence. Though, it probably is enough to make Andre Villas-Boas burn a pile of Roman Abramovich's money out of rage and the inability to find a place to store it all.
Of course, Torres did do this against a mid-table Championship side and it was just one match that could very well be the start of another 20-match scoreless run, but none of that matters right now. After so much time looking glum on the bench and being laughed at by all of Old Trafford in his moment of despair, let the man have his moment of joy.
Here's another shot of happy Fernando celebrating his second goal with Raul Meireles' bizarre new haircut...

| BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Of all the ideas related to player safety in the NHL discussed at the GM meetings, the one with the best chance of becoming reality is hybrid icing.
It has gained support in recent years. It was tested at the league's research and development camp in Toronto the past two years. And when the league's general managers broke into small groups Monday at their annual meeting, it had unanimous support among the seven GMs who discussed it, according to the Chicago Blackhawks' Stan Bowman.
All 30 GMs will discuss it Tuesday. If it has enough support among the whole group, the GMs will recommended it to the competition committee. It would have to go from there to the league's board of governors for approval.
"To me, it seems almost that there's no reason it wouldn't be supported," Bowman said.
"We'll see maybe if there's something we're missing when we bring it to the bigger group, but you still have a competitive race for the puck. You're not eliminating injuries, but you're reducing the likelihood that guys will get hurt on those plays. It seems like there's a lot there."
