Manchester City striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero has been ruled out of Saturday's home match against Sunderland with a mystery injury that could keep him off the field for an indefinite amount of time. The only thing manager Roberto Mancini has revealed about the ailment is that it was 'stupid'. Take it away, Daily Mail :
'It is a stupid injury,' said Mancini. 'It was not his fault but he can't play with this injury; for one day, 10 days or two weeks. I don't know.'
Mancini has refused to say exactly what happened but repeatedly used the word 'stupid' when asked.
'I prefer not to say,' he said. 'But he couldn't play against Stoke and can't play tomorrow. I hope he can recover for Arsenal next weekend.'
It's unclear why Mancini is being so cagey about the situation, but 'stupid' injuries may occur in any of the following situations:
- Requesting your tremendous salary in cash and dropping it on your foot
- Marying Maradona's daughter, then angering Maradona
- One-on-one training drills with Nigel de Jong
- Letting Carlos Tevez off his leash when the mailman is at the door
- Meeting an Atletico Madrid fan in a dark alley
- Playing darts with Mario Balotelli
- Doing anything with Mario Balotelli
- Getting hit by a huge red truck while cycling to work
- Watching the TLC network for more than 20 minutes, increasing your stupidity to the point where you forget how your legs and arms work.
They're all possibilities, but the smart money is on Balotelli being somehow involved. |

Despite boasting the immeasurable talents of George Weah Jr and lots of Bulgarians you've never heard of, PFC Kaliakra Kavarna have had a poor run of form lately, failing to pick up any points in their past five league matches. As they languish eight points from safety in the Bulgaria A PFG relegation zone, the club president has taken drastic action: wages will be suspended until the team starts winning. Reports the Daily Mail :
Struggling Bulgarian club Kaliakra have decided to stop paying their players' wages after a run of defeats.
'The decision will be in force until further notice,' said Kaliakra president Ventsislav Vasilev.
He told the team they needed to fight not just to win games, but also to earn their salaries.
Club coach Radostin Trifonov has welcomed the move, saying "I was thinking about resignation but now I'm an optimist." Presumably, he'd be less enthusiastic about the decision if his wages were also being cut. |

After establishing that Barcelona star Lionel Messi is the world's highest-paid footballer , earning €33 million a year (€10.5-million salary, €1.5 million in bonuses and €21 million in advertising and other contracts), France Football magazine has discovered that Manchester United disappointment on loan at Beskitas is the world's 57,612th highest paid footballer. It is estimated that Bebe earns about €17 a year.
"My contract is for much more than that," said Bebe, who cost Manchester United around €9 million in 2010. "But when I joined Besiktas on loan, there must have been some confusion about who would pay me so I haven't been paid anything in...a while. Maybe it was a payroll glitch. Could have been Y2K related. Anyway, my cruciate ligament melted before I even got to Turkey, so I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it. I don't have a phone and that tin can tied to a string thing just doesn't work at all. Whoever invented that is an idiot."
Bebe later added: "In all honesty, [Manchester United manager Sir Alex] Ferguson refused to pay me the first time he saw me train -- the day after I signed with Man United. But I grabbed a bunch of scones from their breakfast spread and wrapped them in napkins that day so I didn't care. They were such good scones."
According to a report published Tuesday, Bebe earns an annual salary of €0, owes €175 in bank fees and makes €192 for wearing knockoff "Badidas" brand football boots in various fast food restaurants. But none of that matters to Bebe, who lived in a homeless shelter during his teenage years.
"Money isn't that important. Especially when you have scones. I still have a bunch left." |
