China won the East Asian Championship by beating Hong Kong 2-0 after forward Qu Bo scored twice and with South Korea winning 3-1 over Japan on Sunday. Bo opened the scoring in the final minute of the first half and then doubled the lead with a penalty in the 74th after midfielder Jiang Ning was taken down in the area.

Shinobu Ono and Mami Yamaguchi scored in the first half Saturday as Japan beat South Korea 2-1 to defend its title at the women's East Asian Championship. Ono opened the scoring in the seventh minute and Yamaguchi doubled the lead 10 minutes later to give Japan a 2-0 lead at halftime. Yoo Young A pulled one back for the visitors in the 75th minute.

China beat South Korea for the first time Wednesday, winning 3-0 at the East Asian Championship. Yu Hai and Gao Lin scored in the first half and Deng Zhuoxiang added another after halftime. Following its 0-0 draw against Japan on Saturday, China is now in a position to win the East Asian title for the second time.
